I know how to fix a tyre and replace a tyre, I know how to fix a lightbulb and I know how to make healthy and efficient meals (which I will be demonstrating on this blog).
These skills help you become more knowledgeable of the world around you and help you be more independent. They allow you to grow and make you realize you do not need to depend on others because it is actually easier to provide for yourself. Kind of “customize your life” how you want it and according to what you want and need.
You don’t need to go to your parents begging to have a specific thing to eat, because you can just make it yourself. This is what it is to become independent, you are in charge of your own decisions and choices. You do what is best for you.
You don’t have to suffer is the dark if you know how to fix a lightbulb, so you can get out of that dark, bad situation yourself.
You don’t need to worry about waiting on the side of the road wondering if something bad is going to happen to you. You don’t need to rely on someone to come help you so you can get home safely. You can be independent and take care of it yourself. And it is faster to do it yourself then wait for someone else to come and do it for you.
These skills will improve your quality of life because it will make it easier for you and also allows you to grow to be independent, instead of depending on someone else (who might not even show)
Sometimes people are busy with their own problems that they might not be able to help you with yours.
I learnt that at a young age. 😊that makes me sound so old.
When I was a kid (around 8) I used to be on a bike constantly. And I would get extremely sad when I could ride, for example when I had a flat tyre. I would beg my dad to help me fix the tyre; after pushing the bike back home and I would always get the same reply, “okay ill help you now”. But that usually turned into “I’ll do it tomorrow”. This is because my dad was so busy doing his work and fixing his problems that there wasn’t time for problems that weren’t dire, like simply fixing a tyre. I would wait and wait for nothing to do when all I wanted to do was have fun on the bike. It made me sad but now I don’t have to deal with emotions like that anymore. When I learnt how to replace and fix a tyre I became more independent, I learnt how to fix my problems on my own, so they do not fall onto someone else. Now I never have to wait to go for a ride, even if I have a broken tyre.
Whenever you get hungry and you check the fridge, you always hope that there is a delicious meal waiting for you. It doesn’t matter if it is hot or cold, it just needs to be quick, easy and delicious. But 80% of the time that is not what you find. You find ingredients to make the meal but that takes too much effort, or you aren’t in the mood to make it or you don’t know how to cook. 😊 I have experienced that plenty of times and my go to was usually noodles because those and easy to make and they are delicious. But they are not nutritious. “you cannot live off noodles, they are just cardboard”, that is what I would always hear when I would have to make myself food because back then I didn’t know how to cook anything else. But now I know plenty of meals I can make that are quick and healthy. 😊 its going to come in handy at uni because I will be eating healthy and not spending all my money on take-out like Steers every day.
No-one wants to live in the dark, especially when the lightbulb goes off in your room and now there is not enough light to study. YUP! That is what motivated me to find out how to fix a lightbulb. And it was a life saver because after weeks of asking for assistance I was able to do it myself, and it was done and dusted before I even know it. NO MORE SUFFERING😊
That is why I hope you find my blog helpful. Because these skills and information is stuff that is incredibly valuable, especially if you want to be more independent and make your life easier for you in the future.
